Why ransomware cannot touch these backups

We always open the connection, using read-only credentials against your source. If an attacker encrypts your systems, there is no path to the backup: the firewall blocks any connection in the opposite direction. Your history stays intact, point by point.

If your most recent backup gets older than 36 hours, we alert you
If zero new blocks arrive several days in a row, we alert you: that is a ransomware signature

Frequently asked questions

Can I restore by myself?

On VPS, yes, straight from the client area. On Replication and Managed plans we enable a read-only access when you need it, you restore, and we disable it again. A credential that only exists when needed cannot be stolen the rest of the time.

Does my data leave Andorra?

Your backups are always stored in facilities we own and operate, never in third-party clouds. Your primary copy lives in our La Massana data centre and, if you order the second location, a replica is also kept in our second data centre, in an independent building and network.

What if I lose my encryption key?

On Managed Backups, without your key nobody can read the backups: not us, not an attacker. That is why we ask you to keep it in two safe places. It is your guarantee, treat it as such.

How much history do you keep?

Whatever you order: 7 points or 30 days on VPS, and on Replication whatever your plan defines, which can be longer than what you keep at home. Monthly points can be marked as protected.

What if I want to leave one day?

Backups are stored in standard Proxmox Backup format: you can take them to any PBS server in the world, including your own. No lock-in, no captive formats.
